Week One Weight Loss Totals

Hubby lost 10 pounds! *He was much stricter than I was though. I lost 4.

CONTINUING ON...
Alas we are on the second week and incorporating food back into our diet.
Mostly lean meat (only 4-6 oz) and limited starches. We can eat and drink all the fruit and veggies we want.

My hubby will be continuing his juice diet but adding a portioned controlled meal [like what I described above] once a day.

We are honestly going to keep this way of eating for life, so in essence it is not a diet in the public use of the word. This is THE ONLY way my hubby will eat the right amount of fruit and veggies that are truly needed in our daily diet.

WHAT I HAVE LEARNED AND FACTS I CAN PASS ON TO YOU THAT WORK!!!!!

  • Practice portion control for life!  It works because we [humans] were not made to eat the amount of food that we intake at each sitting. Here are some helpful visuals to help you on your journey.
If you have a hard time practicing portion control then purchase plates, bowls, and measuring systems that you use at every meal.

  • Eat a variety of foods! Make sure you get enough protein in lean meat form, dark green leafy vegetables and watch your starch and sugar intake.

I still have the same opinion as when I started, HERBALIFE is the B E S T way to lose weight, maintain weight, and stay healthy for life.
The proof is in the shake. ;)

7 & 3

Well my hubby has lost 7 lbs in four days and I have lost 3. I'm not really trying to lose weight as much as try out this fad of eating and drinking nothing but fruit and veggies.

Here is what I have learned thus far:
  • It is very good for you to eat plenty of fruit and veggies with every meal, everyday! HOWEVER, I feel hungry, tired, and irritable when I juice.
  • Don't over-use spinach, lemons, or limes when juicing because they can overpower the flavor as an end result.
  • Weight yourself the starting morning (naked) and then do not get on the scale until the week is over. Weighing yourself a final time the morning of the last day.
  • When and if you need "food" eat a grapefruit, orange, watermelon etc. so that you are still "pretty-much" on the juice detox diet.
  • Drink a lot of water. It flushes your system and keeps the hunger-pains down.
  • Continue your exercise program. Or start one as it will help you lose weight and give you something to do besides think about food.
  • Get plenty of rest and go to bed early [with a full glass of water] so you do not lay around thinking of food.
Still have not heard from anyone else about their juicing experience. Am I the only one???

Not getting better...

Unfortunately for my hubby it is not getting better, because he is having his heartburn and is more hungry than ever. I reported that he had not taken his antacids in a few days but he corrected me that he has taken less than usual but they are still needed.
On the flip side he has lost 5 lbs in 3 days. I know, right!

He is going to go his full week (per his plan) and hopefully lose a full 10 lbs. He is then going to juice a meal a day for for the following week. At least he is willing to try it with me. :)

I am now feeling "starving" too, I really am having a hard time with this ...
I am used to my daily Herbalife Formula 1 shake and that keeps me from feeling hungry; without that I am miserable.

*Don't forget to add a lot of variety to your juice/smoothies because it gets boring quick!

We will not give up and I will continue to report.
OH I FORGOT to mention that I too lost weight (3 lbs in 3 days) so that is good news.
All I keep thinking is if this is worth the hunger pains????

How are you doing and what have you tried? Let us know.

How to Succeed

What I have learned is this...

  • Make sure to have all of the food out of the house that would tempt you. Our cupboards and refrigerator are almost bare! We kept the fruit, veggies, milk, yogurt, and frozen fruit.
  • Make sure you get what you need out and make it available and pleasant looking so that you will actually want to make the juice and/or smoothies. Get the juicer and blender out.

  • Don't be afraid of using a little honey, spices, and seasonings to sweeten and flavor the shakes, juices, or smoothies. Just stay away from sugar, molasses, and artificial sweeteners. They will add extra calories and could change your glucose level.
  • Make sure you "test" your juicing concoctions before making a lot that will be wasted.
  • Beware of using a lot of lemon and lime because citrus fruits are very strong and can actually take over the flavor of the juice.
  • Make sure you drink plenty of water. If you are not a fan of water [taste] then try adding fruit and veggies to the water to help you out. IT WORKS! Cucumbers, apples, lemons, and lime work great. Good luck!

Deliciously hungry...

Here we are a few days into the juicing and there are great things to report:
  1. My hubby has not had to take his daily doses of antacids and no headaches!
  2. Taste is not bad and even good!
  3. Smoothies are actually keeping me full. (Not my hubby)
So far I'm a bit hungry and the energy level seems the same, however, I am happy.
The down side is that my hubby is "starving" and not liking the no food part because he actually likes the chewing and eating part way more than I do.

This is a common issue I have read on many other pages.
I can also tell you that "they" say that after the first 3-5 days your stomach shrinks and you don't feel so hungry anymore; you actually have more energy and feel great!
Let's hope that in the next few days he is still not starving...

My favorite smoothie is a Raspberry smoothie:
1 small low-fat raspberry yogurt
1 cup of 2% milk
2 cups of baby leaf spinach
1/2 cup frozen berries (It's a mixture of blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries)
1/2 cup fresh raspberries (use more frozen berries if you don't have fresh)
1/2 cup fresh blueberries

This Smoothie is very delicious! My only issue
is that it has a lot of seeds. It did fill me up and it's quite nutritious.

Onward and continuing this journey... I'll keep you posted.
How are you doing on your juice detox????

Shopping for the goods...

I GOT THE GOODS!!!!  I'm actually excited to get started!
Ahhhhhh well on my way to looking fantastic naked! ;)
Honey always included.  ;)

I went to +Costco for my fruit and veggies because of quantity and quality but will still have to go to the grocery store inevitably for my kale and cucumbers.

I love the cashier, "is this your new-years-resolution" she asks me with a I called it smile. "NO, I am getting even more healthy with my lifestyle choices." As I do not believe in New Years Resolutions that only set up up for failure and defeat, which makes you feel even worse than when you started.

Here goes nothing... I will keep you posted on the recipes I use and how they taste and turn out. I am also going to use my blender for thicker "shakes" at night. Same concept as the juicing but a bit of substance.

Anyone have any great juice ideas please add them!

Juicing Jitters

This is the last weekend before I start my juice detox, cleanse, diet... Whatever people call it.
Let me be honest I'm only about 5 pounds heavier than my goal weight but I need to make some adjustments in my diet as I get older.

This blog is so that I can "first hand" document this process to find out if juicing will actually create more energy and give my skin the look and feeling of health and youth.
Not only do the documentaries out there promise me a healthy body but they promise me I'll be skinny, energized and happy. Let me find out and share my true findings with you!

Starting Monday I am going to live on juice completely!
The only way I can give it a fair and true test is if it is the only thing that nourishes me!

The plan: 14 Day Juice Detox

  1. Drinking only fresh fruit and veggies from my juicer and water for 7 days.
  2. The next 7 days I will add raw fruit and veggies with the juicing.
  3. I will chronicle my 14 day experience in its entirety. Leaving nothing out!

The juicer has been ordered and will be here tomorrow night.
I bought a +Breville (BJE200XL) Compact Juice Fountain 700-watt Juice Extractor $100

SPECS:
I'm 41 years old
5' 7" tall
131 lbs

All in all, I do have a bit of the juicing jitters because this is all new to me.
But according to published and documented authorities I am doing the best thing for my body inside and out.

WISH ME LUCK AND JOIN ME!
